Changming Li

Image of Changming LiChangming Li is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at University of Texas at Austin, where he studies with Brian Lewis. He joined the Austin Symphony Orchestra in 2018.

Originally from China, after graduated from Renmin University (China), Changming received his Master’s Degree at the University of Cincinnati as a full scholarship recipient, where he studied with Kurt Sassmannshaus and Piotr Milewski. During the summer of 2019, Changming received his Doctorate Degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

As an orchestra musician, Changming has performed with China National Symphony Orchestra, National Theater Orchestra (China), Xi’an Symphony Orchestra (China) and Guiyang Symphony Orchestra (China). He also had numerous solo and chamber recitals in China and U.S. In 2012, he won a prize in the Chamber Music Festival competition in Central Conservatory of Music in China and was invited as soloist to perform with Renmin University Orchestra. He was also s quarter-finalist of 2017 Shlomo Mintz International Violin Competition and a fellowship recipient of the Miami Music Festival. Changming also has performed in many master classes include the Dover String Quartet, Giora Schmidt and Isabel Trautwein, his chamber and orchestra coaches also include Alexander String Quartet, Ariel String Quartet, Miro String Quartet, and Timothy Lees. In his spare time, Changming enjoys playing basketball, and he is also a fan of soccer.
