Kurt Moede

Associate Principal Hornist, Kurt Moede, is the son of missionary parents and was born in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. He was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Kurt studied horn as a scholarship student of Ranier DeIntinis at The Juilliard School of Music. At the University of Texas, Kurt earned his master’s degree as a student of Wayne Barrington. For the past thirty-two years, Kurt has been a member of the Austin Symphony Orchestra serving as Principal Horn, Third Horn, and currently as Associate Principal Horn. In addition to performing actively as a freelance musician in the Austin area, Kurt is a Lecturer of Instructional Music Education and Student Teaching University Mentor at Texas State University.
