Jill Van Gee

Jill Van Gee, violist, is happy to be making music in her home state of Texas. In addition to being a member of the Austin Symphony, Ms. Van Gee is Assistant Principal Viola of the Santa Cruz Symphony (CA), and a former member of the San Antonio Symphony. She was Principal Violist with the Juilliard Orchestra for a summer residency in Spoleto, Italy, and during years spent in Canada, played with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Ms. Van Gee has toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and while playing with the avant-garde Canadian ballet company La La La Human Steps, she recorded original music by David Lang and Gavin Bryars. A winner of the Canadian Music Competition, she was privileged to perform at the 2006 International Viola Congress.

Ms. Van Gee holds a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School, a Master of Music from the Université de Montréal, and enjoys working with the next generation of musicians through her private studio and with local youth orchestras.
