Steven Hakel

Originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Steven Hakel began playing the violin at age 5. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Loyola University in New Orleans, Steven spent a year in the violin section with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra before being awarded a fellowship with the New World Symphony in 2001. After two years there, he accepted a position with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, where he spent 10 seasons in the violin section, serving as Assistant Principal Second Violin for one of them. In 2013, he and his family began a new adventure in Houston, TX where he currently a teacher and freelance musician. When his violin is not tucked under his chin, he is enjoying life with his wife, Teresa, and his two children, Thea and Eric!
