Stanley Chyi
Stanley Chyi, oboist, is an experienced and versatile performer based out of Houston, TX. He is a member of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a substitute with Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, San Antonio Symphony, ROCO, Tucson Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony. He has held positions with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of Southeast Texas, Sarasota Opera and Central City Opera.
Mr. Chyi has served as oboe instructor at Lamar University and at Rice University’s Shepherd School Preparatory Division. He has coached for Houston Youth Symphony and also maintained a private teaching studio.
Mr. Chyi completed his master’s degree in oboe performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. He graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance. In past summers he has attended the Music Academy of the West as well as the AIMS, Artosphere, Aspen, Spoleto, and Texas Music Festivals.
