Richard Berkley

Richard Berkley joined the Austin Symphony while a student at the University of Texas in 1969 studying with George Frock, then Timpanist and Principal Percussionist for ASO. His percussion teachers in addition to George Frock were F. Michael Combs and Ron Dyer at the University of Missouri / Columbia. After completing graduate studies at UT, Richard, joined the band directing staff for the Round Rock Independent School District where he served from 1974 until his retirement in 1999. During the 2021-22 season, Richard will complete his 50th season with the ASO.
