Nick Hammel

Violinist Nick Hammel is currently pursuing his Master’s in Violin Performance at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. He has soloed with orchestras such as the Richardson Symphony, Austin Civic Orchestra, and the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra. Nick was also a semi-finalist in the 2022 Young Texas Artists Music Competition and the 2022 Jefferson Symphony Young Artists Competition. Most recently, Nick won first prize in the 2022 Ann & Charles Eismann Young Artists Competition.

Nick is also an active chamber music performer, and has performed with artists such as Sandy Yamamoto, Bion Tsang, Andrew Brownell, and Anton Nel. His former group, Trio En, won Silver Medal in the Senior Strings Division of the 2020 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. They also placed first in the 2020 MTNA Chamber Music Competition, and were semifinalists in the 2020 Coltman Chamber Music Competition. Nick was also second violinist of the Favola Quartet, which won Grand Prize in the 2020 Coltman Chamber Music Competition.

In his free time, Nick loves to play games, whether it be digitally or of the board variety. He also enjoys traveling and exploring the different hidden food gems of whichever city he may be in at the time.
