Margaret Ayer

Image of Margaret AyerOriginally from Denton, Texas, Margaret came to UT Austin to study with Wayne Barrington. After completing studies with this great teacher, including four years of playing next to him in Austin symphony, she left to play for seven years in the Mexico City Philharmonic. Returning to the US to play in the Houston Ballet Orchestra, she also played with Houston Grand Opera, extra with Houston Symphony, and in the Cimarron Woodwind Quintet. Currently, she holds positions in the Austin Symphony and Lyric Opera and is a member of the Mundi Ensemble. She coaches for Austin Chamber Music Center and teaches in the Eanes school district. Her favorite activities include swimming year-round at Barton Springs and Kundalini Yoga.
