Solo English Horn and Associate Principal Oboe, Ian Davidson, has appeared as soloist and chamber musician across six continents as part of forty-three international concert tours. He is Regents’ and University Distinguished Professor of Music and Humanities at Texas State University, a GRAMMY nominee, United States State Department Fulbright Senior Specialist, and Principal Oboe of the Austin Opera Orchestra. This season, in addition to concerts in the US, international concert tours will take him to Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, England, France, and India. His recording credits include radio, television, film, and eleven compact disks with the Wild Basin Winds. Dr. Davidson holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and DePauw University. In 2015 he was honored by DePauw with a citation as the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Creative and Performing Arts. And in 2018 was appointed to DePauw’s Centers Co-Curricular Advisory Board.
