Through our innovative Building Blocks program, ASO musicians interact with thousands of young students (grades Pre-K–3) annually in a school setting and introduce them to the instruments of the orchestra, laying a firm foundation for music appreciation. Presentations feature rotating chamber ensembles of ASO musicians, including a string quartet, woodwind quintet, and brass quintet, as well as individual percussion and harp demonstrations. Thanks to our generous funders, approximately 43 elementary schools will receive a fully-funded Building Blocks presentation during our 2024-2025 season!
ASO Building Blocks has been made possible in part by The James C. Armstrong Young Education Endowment, Bank of America, PNC Bank Foundation, Katherine and Johannes Brinkmann, Eldarose Cardenas, The Georgia B. Lucas Fund of the Austin Community Foundation, Mihaylo Family Fund and Women’s Symphony League of Austin.
