Bring the whole family to experience the magic of the performing arts at ASO Tuneful Tales this summer – at locations throughout Austin! This series of free concerts and arts engagement for families of young children (ages 3-10) extends beyond Austin Public Libraries to five H-E-B store True Texas BBQ restaurants. Presentations feature ASO chamber music ensembles in collaboration with local storytellers to bring original children’s tales to new life through music and narration. Performances are accompanied by arts activities led by certified Orff Schulwerk music educators (library branches and H-E-B locations) or an interactive percussion center and Instrument Petting Zoo presented by Strait Music (Central library).

Please find below a set of videos from our pandemic-era virtual ASO Tuneful Tales. There is a “Welcome” video for each story by local storyteller Bernadette Nason. The next two videos in each set are narrated in English by Bernadette Nason and in Spanish by Jacob Rivera. The last video is “Creativity Corner.” In this video, Allison Liu will recite a short poem and compose a soundscape to go with it.
