Hilary Scop
Hilary Scop was appointed 2nd clarinetist of the Austin Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2005. Prior to moving to Texas, she was an active freelancer in the New York City area, performing with Orchestra New England, the New Haven Symphony, the Queens Symphony, and DiCapo Opera. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, where she was a recipient of the Albert Stanley medal.
She also holds graduate degrees from Yale University and Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Scop has been awarded fellowships with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Tanglewood Music Center, the Pacific Music Festival and Music Academy of the West. She has also appeared as soloist with the Ann Arbor Symphony and the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Scop also teaches clarinet in the Austin public schools. She loves spending time in the outdoors with her husband Evan and sons Alex and Leo.
