TROUT FISHING ALONG WALLER CREEK IN SYMPHONY SQUARE

This will be a family event not to be missed. One of the nation's favorite performers for children takes the stage of the Symphony Square Amphitheatre one performance only! Trout Fishing in America brings their popular songs for kids to the stage for a fun-filled, early evening concert, June 2nd. Sponsored by Blue Bell Creameries, this is a concert for the young and the young at heart, children and adults of all ages.
Award-winning duo Trout Fishing in America (Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet) received their third Grammy® nomination in 2007 for My Best Day, recorded live in concert. The 15 songs cover a range of topics and themes, from odes to friends whom we love despite the fact they talk too much, to alien nose invasions and snowflakes named Bob.
One look at Trout Fishing in America (TFIA) tells you that this is no ordinary musical team. At 6’9”, guitarist/vocalist Ezra Idlet towers above his partner of over 2 decades, bassist/vocalist Keith Grimwood (5’6”). Currently based in Northwest Arkansas, Grimwood and Idlet first teamed up in Houston as members of the folk/rock band St. Elmo’s Fire. Grimwood left a promising classical career as a bassist for the Houston Symphony, and Idlet had been through a variety of rock and folk bands. In the late 1970s, an impromptu performance at a grade school had a profound effect on their careers. Since then, performing and recording for children has been a major focus of TFIA’s music.
Tickets for Trout Fishing in America are $8 for children and $12 for adults. Charge tickets online at www.austinsymphony.org where you will find a wealth of concert information. Purchase tickets at the Symphony Box Office, 11th and Red River or call 476-6064 or 1-888-4-MAESTRO (toll-free).
